Risk Mitigation

Not only can we help you plan to recover from a disaster, we can also help you avoid the disaster
in the first place or at least reduce the business impact should a disaster occur.

We will survey your premises and meet with your staff to identify key business processes, dependences and risks.  We will then report back, highlighting concerns and areas where steps
can be taken to mitigate the risks in a cost effective way.

To give some examples;

We will review your network connections and recommend how to protect against a key link failing so your business can continue unhindered.

We will ensure you have sensible security procedures and processes in place checking such things as whether you are regularly updating your anti virus software.

We will check your physical security ensuring for example that your computer systems are not housed directly under a water cooled air conditioner which may leak.

If you run a web site which takes electronic orders, we will advise on how to protect the service to ensure you stay on line even if the main server is destroyed.

We will consider key suppliers and discuss alternative options - if your key supplier has a disaster, consider how it will impact you.

We will always take into consideration the cost of any recommendations compared with the value
of the business or data we are protecting.  It does not make sense to spend £100 to protect data worth £10 but equally, if it is predicted that an incident may occur once every 5 years and the business/data at risk is worth £100, then it would make economical sense to invest £10 per
year in preventative measures and/or appropriate insurance cover.

We can advise on cost effective data backup procedures to ensure that should a disaster occur,
you are in the best position to be able to recover your critical data.  If you are updating critical
data all day long, it may be very disruptive if you had an incident at the end of the day and had
to restore to the previous night's backup.  Not only would the day's efforts have been lost, you
would have to invest extra effort in trying to recreate the lost the day's work rather than
servicing new business. We can advise on, supply and manage both on-site and off-site IT
continuity systems.
